Private vs. Semi-Private Tours: Finding Your Perfect Fit

At Lokahi Scuba, we believe in making every dive as unique and memorable as the island of Oahu itself. Whether you’re seeking an exclusive adventure or a more budget-friendly option, we offer two charter styles designed to deliver the same exceptional Lokahi touch: private and semi-private tours.

The Key Differences

  1. Private Charters: With a private charter, the boat is yours—just you, your group, and our crew. This means total exclusivity, unmatched privacy, and the freedom to tailor every aspect of your dive experience. Private charters start at a flat rate of $850, perfect for families, couples, or small groups seeking a bespoke adventure.

  2. Semi-Private Charters: For those looking to share the aloha spirit (and the boat!) with another dive party, semi-private charters are a fantastic option. While you’ll share the vessel, your group will still enjoy its own dedicated Lokahi dive guide, ensuring a personalized experience underwater. Semi-private tours are charged per person at $175—an ideal choice for solo adventurers, students, or smaller groups keeping an eye on their budget.

The Lokahi Difference

No matter which charter style you choose, the Lokahi promise stays the same. Both private and semi-private tours include:

  • Private dive guides exclusively for your group

  • Small group sizes for a more intimate, safe, and engaging experience

  • Flexible booking tailored to your schedule

  • Top-of-the-line gear, included with every dive

While we love hosting private charters, we understand that Hawaii’s paradise can come with a hefty price tag. That’s why we created our semi-private options—to offer the same premier dive experience for those seeking a more cost-conscious way to explore Oahu’s underwater wonders.

Whether you dive in luxury with a private boat or join the camaraderie of a semi-private adventure, Lokahi Scuba is here to make every dive unforgettable. Your ocean journey starts with us—book your adventure today!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) program offers a thrilling one-day introduction to the world of diving, perfect for anyone aged 10 and older. This isn't a certification course, but rather a fantastic opportunity to dip your toes into the underwater realm and see if scuba diving might be your new passion. During this experience, you'll learn key safety principles, get comfortable with scuba equipment, practice essential skills in shallow water, and experience the exhilaration of your first underwater breaths. Plus, you have the option to extend your education with skills crediting towards a future Open Water Certification Course.

  • At Lokahi Scuba, our priority is to ensure that every diver is not just ready but excited about their underwater adventure. We pride ourselves on a more thorough and relaxed approach to diver preparation, taking the time to educate and familiarize you with all aspects of the gear and dive process—something that sets us apart from the typical rush of other operations. Typically, we dedicate an hour to gear assembly and education, followed by 2 to 3 hours of actual boat and dive time out in the water. This approach ensures that our divers are comfortable, confident, and fully stoked for the experience ahead.

  • The Discover Scuba Diving experience offers a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet), but your comfort is our top priority. You'll never dive deeper than you feel ready for. We tailor each dive to match your comfort level and ensure a memorable and enjoyable underwater adventure.

  • Absolutely! All Discover Scuba Diving experiences are led by certified PADI Instructors who have undergone extensive training and rigorous examinations to ensure they can safely guide and teach newcomers to scuba diving. With our PADI Pros, you’re in skilled and knowledgeable hands every step of the way.

  • While the ocean always holds a bit of mystery, every dive guarantees sightings of vibrant coral, sandy seabeds, and the clear blue water itself. Beyond that, seeing some of Hawaii's most exciting marine life is all dependent on the lottery of the sea. Common sights include green sea turtles, a dazzling variety of reef fish, moray eels, white tip reef sharks, Hawaiian spinner dolphins, octopuses, big eye reef squid, rays, and colorful nudibranchs. And if fortune smiles on you, you might even encounter the rare and elusive Hawaiian monk seal. Each dive is a unique adventure, awaiting your discovery!
